My name is Melanie Colegrave. I am an experienced medical writer and editor currently based in Lincoln in the UK.

My background is basic research into the mechanisms of various diseases.

My research skills include molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry, and biophysics techniques. I completed my PhD in Molecular Biology at King's College London and a BSc (Hons) in Cell Biology at the University of Liverpool.

My main areas of experience are cardiac disease, muscle disease, cell biology, wound care, and diabetes. These interests have developed from my PhD studies and more than 10 years of research at the Royal Veterinary College London and the University of Leeds in the UK.

However, since becoming a freelance medical writer I have enjoyed expanding my knowledge of other areas, such as liver diseases, fertility, and surgical techniques. I am always excited to learn about new research areas, this is one of the things that makes my work so interesting.

I am also a member of the European Medical Writers Association and continue to develop my professional skills by attending their workshops.

I now provide a freelance writing and editing service for clinical and basic research. I have really enjoyed working on other people’s clinical and science reports and papers since 2010. It is always a pleasure to assist in the publication of new and important research.
