My name is Melanie Colegrave. I am an experienced medical writer and editor currently based in Lincoln in the UK.
My background is basic research into the mechanisms of various diseases. So, I have experience of many different research techniques involving molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry, and biophysics.
I completed my PhD in Molecular Biology at King's College London after a BSc (Hons) in Cell Biology at the University of Liverpool.
My main areas of experience are cardiac disease, muscle disease, cell biology, wound care, and diabetes. These interests have developed from my PhD studies and more than 10 years of research at the Royal Veterinary College London and the University of Leeds in the UK.
However, since becoming a freelance medical writer I have enjoyed expanding my knowledge of other areas, such as liver diseases, fertility, infectious diseases, and surgical techniques. I am always excited to learn about new research areas, this is one of the things that makes my work so interesting.
I enjoy membership of the European Medical Writers Association and American Medical Writers Association. These help me continue to develop my professional skills by attending their workshops and training.
